In order to fulfill this wish of auspiciousness, Lord Ganesha created a flame from his powers and merged it with the soul power of both the wives Riddhi-Siddhi. After some time this Jyoti took the form of a girl, whose name was Santoshi. Since then that girl came to be known as Santoshi Mata. Since Santoshi Mata was born on Friday, so her worship and fasting are done on Fridays only.

Vrat and worship method of Santoshi Mata:

Santoshi Mata is worshiped in Hinduism as the mother of contentment, happiness, peace and splendor. Contentment is very important in our life. If there is no satisfaction, then the person becomes very weak mentally and physically. Santoshi Maa gives us satisfaction and brings happiness in our life.
Worshiping Mata Santoshi's fast leads to an increase in wealth, marriage, progeny and material pleasures. This fast is started from the first Friday of Shukla Paksha.
There is a law to fast for 16 Fridays of Mata Santoshi with the wish of happiness and good fortune.
* Get up before sunrise and complete the cleaning of the house.
After bathing, establish a statue or picture of Mata Santoshi in a beautiful and holy place in the house.
* Keep an urn filled with water in front of Mata Santoshi. Place jaggery and gram by filling a bowl on top of the kalash.
* Light a ghee lamp in front of the mother.
Offer Akshat, flowers, fragrant smell, coconut, red clothes or chunri to the mother.
*Sour things should never be offered to a contented mother.
* On Friday, all the members of the house should remain pure and sattvik.
Offer jaggery and gram to Mother Santoshi.
* Begin the story of mother by saying Santoshi Mata ki Jai.
The person observing this fast should keep jaggery and roasted gram in his hand while telling and listening to the story. The one who hears the manifest 'Santoshi Mata ki Jai' should speak in this way with a jai jaikar mouth. At the end of the story, feed the jaggery and gram to the cow. Distribute jaggery and gram placed on top of the urn to everyone as prasad. Before the story, fill the Kalash with water and place a bowl full of jaggery and gram on it. After the Katha is over and the Aarti is done, sprinkle the water of the Kalash everywhere in the house and water the remaining water in the Tulsi bed. Take a good deal from the market and if the good is in the house, then take it for the same work and fast. The person observing the fast should observe the fast with a happy heart with reverence and love.
Special: Men and women fasting on this day should neither touch nor eat sour things.
Santoshi Mata's Vrat Story
There was an old lady who had seven sons. Six of them used to earn and one was non-earner. The old lady used to feed them with great love by making a good kitchen, but feeding the leftovers to the seventh. But he was naive, so he did not think of anything in his mind. One day he said to his wife - Look how much my mother loves me? She said she feeds you all the lies, yet you say so, if you want, you can see when the time comes.
One day a big festival came. The old lady made seven types of food and churma laddus. To check this, the seventh boy fell asleep wearing a thin cloth on the pretext of hurting his head and began to see that the mother made him sit on very nice rugs and served seven types of food and laddoos. he grew them up
Gave. In a single day, he became as lavish as a king. Then came the next Friday. The daughter-in-law told her husband – I have to perform the fast of Santoshi Mata. He said do it very well happily. Soon she started preparing for Udyapan. He asked the sons of Jeth to live. He accepted. The Jithanis taught their children from behind, 'You ask for sourness so that his Udyapan is not complete.' The boys asked for sourness. The daughter-in-law started saying, 'Brother sourness will not be given to anyone. This is Santoshi Mata's prasad. The boys stood up and said, bring money. She could not understand anything naively what is the difference between them. He gave the money and they started eating after asking for tamarind sourdough. On this Santoshi Mata got angry on him. The king's messengers took her husband away. The poor woman went to the temple crying and fell at her feet and said, 'Hey! What did mother do? Why did you make me cry now laughing?' Mother said daughter, I am sad that you have broken my fast by being proud and have forgotten everything so soon. She started saying - 'Mother! I have no crime. The boys gave me a team in error. I gave them money by mistake. Mother forgive me, I will do your Udyapan again.' Mother said, 'You will find your husband on the way.' She found her husband on the way. On asking him, he said 'The king had called me' I had gone to meet him. They went home again.
After a few days, Friday came again. She again started doing Udyapan on the orders of her husband. He again called the sons of the brother-in-law. The Jethanis again taught the same thing. The boys again started asking for sourness on the matter of food. She said, 'If you don't get anything sour, come if you want to.' By saying this, she started bringing the boys of Brahmins to feed them. He gave them Dakshina as much as possible. Santoshi Mata was very pleased with him, by the grace of the mother, in the ninth month, she had a beautiful son like a moon. She started going to the temple daily with her son.
One day Santoshi Mata thought that she comes here everyday. Today I will go to his house. Let me look at it. Thinking of this he made a terrible appearance. Mouth stained with gram and gram, lips like a trunk on which flies were buzzing. In this situation she went to his house. Her mother-in-law said as soon as she stepped into the door, 'Look, some dakin is coming, drive her away or she will eat someone.' The boys started running and closing the window. The daughter-in-law of the seventh boy was looking through the window. She started shouting from there, "Today my mother has come to my house." Saying this, she removed the child from drinking milk. In this, the mother-in-law said, 'Who is hasty to see Pagli, has slammed the child.'
In the meantime, due to the grace of Santoshi Mata, only boys started appearing there. The daughter-in-law said, "Sasuji, whose fast I observe, she is the mother of Santoshi. Saying this he opened all the windows. Everyone grabbed the feet of Santoshi Mata and pleaded and said – “O Mother! We are fools, ignorant, sinners, we do not know the method of your fast, we have committed a great crime by breaking your fast. O world mother! You forgive our offense." On this the mother was pleased with him. The mother should give everyone the same fruit as she gave to the daughter-in-law.
Friday is the day of Mata Santoshi, who like Mother Lakshmi inspires us to have a sense of contentment along with wealth and legitimacy. It is believed that by observing and worshiping Mata Santoshi with a sincere heart, all the wishes are fulfilled and all the troubles of the person go away, but before fasting there are some important laws, without following which the fast of Santoshi Mata would not be completed.
