Worship of Yoni (Womb) in Kamakhya Temple
It is a mythological truth that during the Ambuvachi festival, Mother Bhagwati is menstruating and blood flows from the place of water flow for three consecutive days from the Mahamudra (Yoni-pilgrimage) located in the womb of Mother Bhagwati. It is, in itself, a wonderful sight of a wonderful wonder in this period. According to Kamakhya Tantra-
Yoni mere bodyray kunjavasini kamada.
Rajoswala Mahateja Kamakshi Dhyetam Sad.
Sharanagatdinart Paritran Parayane.
Sarvasyati Hare Devi Narayani Namostu Te.
According to the Puranas, Prajapati Daksha, the father of Sati, had reluctantly married his daughter to Lord Shiva. Prajapati Daksha did not miss any opportunity to humiliate Shiva. Once he organized a yagya and deliberately did not invite Shiva to it. Mother Sati goes to the yagya of her father Daksha without invitation, even after Shiva refuses. Seeing the humiliation of her husband Shiva there, she gets filled with anger and sacrifices herself in the yagya. Lord Shiva gets hurt by this and sends his gan Virbhadra to destroy the yagya. Lord Shiva, full of sorrow, starts tandav with the dead body of Mother Sati in his lap. All the gods worried about this go to the shelter of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu cuts the body of Sati Mata into pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra. Wherever Sati's body parts, her jewelry and clothes fell, there is a Shaktipeeth at present. Wherever Sati's body parts fell, those places became Shaktipeeths. Different things have been said in the texts regarding the places and numbers of Shaktipeeths. The most famous are 52 Shaktipeeths. The mother's vagina had fallen in the Kamakhya Shakti Peeth, hence it is known as Kamakhya. And worship the womb of Goddess Sati because of the creation and upbringing of the world.
