On October 31, Chhath Puja will conclude by offering Arghya to the rising sun. Chhath Puja is considered to be of special importance in Sanatan Dharma. In the month of Kartik, on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha, Chhath festival begins with bathing and eating. Then after observing the main Chhath fast on Shashthi Tithi, the fast is concluded after offering water to the rising sun on Saptami the next day. In this fast, long life, bright future and happiness and prosperity of children are prayed for. Chhath fasting is very difficult, because in this the fasting has to keep a fast for more than 24 hours. In this fast, mainly the Sun God and Chhath Mata are worshiped and water is given to the rising and setting sun. Chhath Mata-
According to the belief, Chhath Mata is said to be the Manas daughter of Brahma. It is said that by worshiping them, the wishes of getting children and long life of the children are fulfilled. According to another belief, she is also called the sister of Sun God.
According to mythological belief, the beginning of Chhath festival is considered to be in the time of Mahabharata period. Karna was born from the womb of Kunti because of a boon given by the Sun God. This is the reason why Karna is called the son of Surya and by the grace of Suryanarayan, he received armor and coils and by the grace and grace of the Sun God, he became a brilliant and great warrior.
It is said that Karna was the ultimate devotee of Lord Sun and this festival was first started by Suryaputra Karna by worshiping the Sun. Karna used to stand in the water for hours every day and worship the sun and offer Arghya to him. Even today this method of offering Arghya is prevalent in Chhath. There is another story in this regard that when the Pandavas had lost all their royalty to the Kauravas in gambling, then Draupadi fasted on Chhath. By this fast, the Pandavas got back all their royalty.
Sun is considered to be the basis of life. Giving water to the rising sun daily is also good for health. Considering the importance of water and sun in life, arghya is offered to the sun on Chhath festival. Apart from this, the astrological significance of giving water to the Sun is also considered.
