The full moon date of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month is called Chaitra Purnima. At the same time, Chaitra Purnima also has a special relation with Pawanputra Hanuman ji. Anjana was an Apsara, although she took birth on earth due to a curse and this curse could be removed only if she gave birth to a child. According to Valmiki Ramayana, Kesari was the father of Shri Hanuman ji. He was the king of Sumeru and Kesari was the son of Brihaspati. Anjana did severe penance of Lord Shiva for 12 years to get a child and as a result she got Hanumanji as a child. It is believed that Hanumanji is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
