Effect of the last solar eclipse of the year on Diwali 2022
This year the five-day festival of Diwali has become six days due to solar eclipse and dates. In most places, Dhanteras is on 22 October, while in some places, preparations are being made to celebrate Dhanteras on 23 October. In such a situation, Dhanteras will be celebrated on both 22 and 23 October. Due to solar eclipse on 25th, Govardhan Puja is on the second day of Diwali and Bhai Dooj is on the third day. Due to dates and solar eclipse, there has been confusion among people regarding the dates of Choti Diwali, Deepak for Yama, Naraka Chaturdashi, Hanuman Jayanti, Kali Chaudas, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. Let us know the exact date of these festivals.
It is scriptural to worship Dhanteras during Pradosh period on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. For this reason it is appropriate to celebrate Dhanteras on 22nd October. Dhanteras shopping should be done on this day itself. Trayodashi Tithi is from 06:02 pm on 22nd October to 06:03 pm on 23rd October.
This year Diwali festival is starting with Dhanteras from 22nd October and it will end with Bhai Dooj on 27th October. Diwali is on 24th and next day there is a solar eclipse, so Govardhan Puja will not be held on the next day of Diwali, it will be on the second day on 26th October. Similarly, this year Bhai Dooj is not on the second day of Diwali but on the third day on October 27. In this way, the festival of Diwali will be of 6 days instead of 5 days.
