Significance of Guru Purnima
Maharishi Ved Vyas ji, a great personality of the Puranic period, who is also considered to be the author of wonderful literature like Brahmasutra, Mahabharata, Shrimad Bhagwat and Eighth Purana, was born on Ashadha Purnima. It is said that Maharishi Ved Vyas was the first to teach the Vedas to man, hence he has been given the status of the first Guru in Hinduism.
