According to all the Puranas like Shrimad Bhagwat, Bhavishya, etc., Lord Shri Krishna was born on Bhadra Krishna Ashtamitithi, Wednesday, during the midnight of Rohini Nakshatra and the moon of Taurus.

According to Niyansindhu:-
'रोहिण्यामर्धरात्रे च यदा कृष्णाष्टमी भवेत् ।
तस्यामभ्यर्चनं शौरेर्हन्ति पापं त्रिजन्मजम् ।। इति विष्णुधर्मोक्तेः ।
'Rohinya Mardharatra Cha Yada Krishna Ashtami Bhavet. Tasyambhyarchanam shaurerahanti sin trijanmajam. Iti Vishnudharmokteḥ.
If Ashtami Tithi is found in Rohini at midnight, then by worshiping Shri Krishna on that day, the sins of three births are removed.
Samayoga tu Rohinya Nishithe Rajsattam. Samayajat Govindo child-like quadrilateral. Tasmattam pujayettatra yatha vinataanuruptah. Iti vahnipuranaacchardharatrasya karmakaltvamvasiyate. Hence 'karmano yasya yah kaalh' etc. vachanatpurvatraiva prapteah pardine satoapi rohiniyogasya na prayojkatvam.

According to Agnipuran:-
समायोगे तु रोहिण्यां निशीथे
राजसत्तम। समयाजत गोविन्दो बालरूपी चतुर्भुजः । तस्मात्तं पूजयेत्तत्र यथा
वित्तानुरूपतः ।। इति वह्निपुराणाच्चार्धरात्रस्य कर्मकालत्वमवसीयते। अतः 'कर्मणो
यस्य यः कालः' इत्यादि वचनात्पूर्वत्रैव
प्राप्तेः परदिने सतोऽपि रोहिणीयोगस्य न प्रयोजकत्वम्।
Agnipuran says that - Oh Rajsattam! At midnight, in conjunction with Rohini, the child-like four-armed Govind was born. For this reason, perform the puja according to your finances at that time.
Due to this, midnight appears to be the time of work (i.e. the period of worship). That's why whatever work has time, do it in that. etc., if received the day before, but is not a sponsor of Rohini Yoga even if it is during the day.
It is said in Vishnudharma that when there is Krishna Ashtami in Rohini at midnight, then by worshiping Krishna, the sins of three births are absolved. [page 290]

If Shri Krishna-Janmashtami is without the conjunction of Rohini Nakshatra, then it is called 'Kevala' and if it is associated with 'Rohini' Nakshatra, it is called 'Jayanti'. If the combination of Wednesday or Monday occurs in 'Jayanti' then it becomes extremely fruitful. There is not much difference between 'Kevalashtami' and 'Jayanti', because without Ashtami, Jayanti cannot have an independent form. Since ancient times, fasting has been observed on midnight-wide Ashtami even without Rohini Nakshatra, but without Tithi-Yoga, there is no independent law in Rohini. Therefore, Shri Krishna Janmashtami becomes the birth anniversary due to the combination of Rohini Nakshatra. Therefore it has been said that 'Rohini Gunavishta Jayanti'. This verse of Vishnurahasya also confirms 'Jayanti Yoga'.
Ashtami Krishna Pakshasya Rohiniriksha Samyuta. Bhavetproshtpade Masi Jayantinam Sa Smrita:-
That is, if Bhadrapada Krishnashtami is combined with Rohini then it is known as Jayanti. It is also clearly written in this regard in 'Gautami Tantra' that if Bhadra Krishna Ashtami is combined with Rohini Nakshatra and Monday or Wednesday, then it is known as Jayanti. Such yoga is attained by the accumulation of virtues in many births. The person who gets the good fortune of fasting on Jayanti, his millions of birth sins are destroyed and after being freed from the bondage of birth, he resides in the supreme divine Vaikunthadi Bhagwad Dham - Ashtami Rohini Yukta Chardharatri Yada Bhavet.
अष्टमी रोहिणी युक्ता
चार्धरात्रे यदा भवेत्।
उपोष्य तां तिथिं विद्वान्
कोटियज्ञफलं लभेत् ।।
सोमाणि बुधवासरे वा अष्टमी
रोहिणी युता ।
